Kristina Completes Sawyer Training with the U.S. Forest Service

We’re excited to share that Kristina has successfully completed official Sawyer Training with the U.S. Forest Service! This certification not only equips her with the skills to safely and effectively operate chainsaws in backcountry and trail environments, but also deepens our organization’s capacity to maintain and restore public lands throughout the region.

For Mountain West Recreation Alliance, this marks a critical step in our long-term strategy. As we continue to grow and take on more complex trail-building and maintenance projects, having certified sawyers on our team means we can directly support the removal of fallen trees, clear overgrown corridors, and safely assist with trail recovery after storms or fire events—without waiting on external crews.

Kristina’s training aligns with our mission to be self-sufficient, capable, and collaborative stewards of Idaho’s public lands. Her certification opens the door to deeper partnerships with agencies like the Forest Service, BLM, and Idaho Parks and Recreation, and ensures our crew can step up when and where we’re most needed.

This is just one of many investments we’re making in long-term trail access and land stewardship. Way to go, Kristina!
